Bungee Connect is a web-based development language and platform designed to give developers a one-stop way of creating, testing and hosting web apps. It is free of charge and offers the ability to have a group of developers work on a project together. It seems like a great idea and comes across as very slick so of course I had to sign up for it and try it out.

Keep in mind this is my first impression, but it didn’t take long for the excitement to fade and the rose colored glasses to come off. First of all, I had to sign up twice because my first attempt resulted in nothing more than a frozen page that somehow managed to not authroize my membership but did manage to lock my chosen user name. So, okay, these things happen – 2nd attempt worked, thankfully.

So, here we are, you log in and get greated by a host of options & nice Flash video tutorials. ready to dive in and get to work? Ummm…wait a minute. Seems Bungee Labs designed this thing around a proprietary programming language so even though it may look familiar – it ain’t!

That’s right, now we have to learn yet ANOTHER language to take advantage of this new offering. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time nor the desire to learn another language, and certainly not from a startup that may or may not work out. I’m still trying to get my mind around Lego’s Mindstorm and that’s well established and fun! So, I may play around with it a bit more, but more than likely this will be yet another “neat” idea that fades from memory.
