Qik.com (pronounced ‘quick’) is a nifty web app that let’s you stream live video from your cellphone. It’s design looks damn simple, which is to say “nice”, and it will let you add streaming video to Twitter, Facebook & other social media sites such as your own blog. Their service automatically stores the video stream so you will have a copy available to you without having to do anything extra which is very nice of them!
One drawback I can see right off the bat is you need to have one hefty data plan from your service provider in order to handle the immense bandwidth that streaming video requires. That and according to their FAQ they seem limited to Nokia phones, although they state they are adding phones all the time. So, if you have the required phone & data plan and you want to shoot some video without any notice, get to Qik!

All About The Web is essentially just that - it's my playground for anything 'net related that I stumble across on any given day. It's a holding cell for anything interesting I find relating to web technology, design and app development. It's also the place where I'll report on web startups, signing up & trying them out so that you don't have to. There are new startups every second and I'm on a mission to generate more user accounts than I can keep track of!
